I could not wait to post about our weekend. We have met the DOG of our dreams!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SOO very excited! Ok, let me back up a bit. We had a whole weekend of dogs planned as you may know. We had a home visit with Allie on Friday night. VERY SWEET dog with LOTS of 8 month old puppy energy. LOVED the kids. Maybe a BIT much for our 9 year old Greyhound BOB. But was still at the top of our list.

Saturday, I was looking forward to the
RAL Adoptathon with over 1o rescue groups attending. It was a wonderful event hosted in the Petsmart parking lot. As soon as we arrived into the thick of things I saw "GREG". You might say it was "love at first site across the parking lot" I did not run over, but continued through the tents. My husband actually got to him before I did, and called me over. I told him, I saw him earlier! Once we got him out of the crate, we knew he was the dog for us. Calm, sweet, gentle, and when he leaned into me and started giving me kisses, I can not describe how my heart melted. I knew we found a LOVE MATCH! We brought Bob down and they were great together!
We were so smitten with "Greg" who we will name BRADY, that after a family lunch discussion we decided to cancel our Sunday appointment with Noah, and adopt BRADY...AKA GREG.
HOWEVER..... THERE IS one more happy ending to the story. Brady has a brother. A beautiful black/grey dog with almond eyes that is JUST as sweet and
gentle as he is. they have been together since birth, as a matter of fact they were in the crate together. The Rescue group, "Houlagans' Rest", asked if we would consider being a foster family for the brother, which we have name "Dillon". My husband and I agreed. We will have say over what wonderful family will get Dillon and be able to work with him until he is adopted. We are DOUBLE EXCITED. I do not have photos of Dillon, but we will very shortly. We hope to have our new boys, by the end of the week. We still have to complete a home visit and the dogs need to finish their vet visits. But we have already started shopping for our new doggie supplies!!!!!!!

PostHeaderIcon SHOW N TELL friday!!

WELCOME!! I am excited to share a small redo from this week! I have been meaning to getting around to painting the small downstairs bathroom from the outdated "gold" color to something more streamline and chic. I had off Monday and decided to dive in. But I also wanted to try a bit of cabinet painting. I have wanted to try it for a while. I had some left over beige paint in the shed, and left over Behr wood paint from my deck makeover. I only had to buy a new roller and brush and I was off... cheap makeover!!

Bathroom before.....

And AFTER!!!................

EASY and CHEAP! Looks like a CUSTOM bathroom! I took a bit of brown glaze and added it to the nooks to give it a shadowed custom layered look.

PostHeaderIcon SEVA is COMING!!!

I am so excited to report that SEVA GRREAT (Golden Retriever rescue ,
is FINALLY coming out TONIGHT to do our home visit and talk to us about the dogs. She told me by phone that we would be able to start seeing dogs right away! Which means this week! What a great start to the week!
We still have a call out for Allie (below) but have not heard back yet from her foster family. It will be so much fun to see what happens over the next few weeks!!

PostHeaderIcon Goodwill Sunday

I got up and decided on a Goodwill trip since yesterday was a bit of a yard sale let! I have decided to re-do my family room to make it a bit more... nautical fresh. With hints of darker woods, stripes and more. For lack of any good decorating terms, I just call it more... Ralph Lauren.

So I got 2 frames at Goodwill... Yellow tag Sunday so they were half 0ff...$1.25 each. They were just beat up, one cherry and one walnut. I also bought these drapes (below). I got 4 of them for 2.99 for ALL! It was JUST the fabric I was looking for and I got a ton of it!

I took the Deck paint which is a nice chocolate brown color and just brushed each of the frames. I did not worry if a bit of the under color showed through really.

don't pretend to be VERY crafty, heck, I can barley sew. But last year I bought a sewing machine off Craigslist and from time to time I try stuff. I am not very good. But pillows...I have gotten better at. I sewed a few slip covers for the pillows that I already had in the room and just covered them up! This is a cheap way to have new pillows!

Another way I have found is to buy the pillows at Goodwill (the sale ones) and use those to cover. This is WAY cheaper than purchasing the stuffing or pillow inserts from someplace like Walmart.

So here is how they turned out!

PostHeaderIcon The DOG Allie

It was most difficult to focus on hunting for bargains when I was so excited about seeing the furry beautiful friends at the adoption locations. It was VERY hot today- 95 degrees! Yard sales were many, but not very plentiful. Few bargains here and there, mostly cool Nicki knacks that I am keeping for myself! :)

About 10:30 I met my husband and we started at
Petco, and then on to Petsmart. We met several organizations such as BARK ( and AARF ( and Henrico Humane Society. At our first stop at Henrico Humane,(
we ran into a beautiful retriever mixed named Allie! She was just sitting in her crate all by herself. No one else around. Once we got her out we could tell that she was very special. She loved my kids and all of us. She was very nice! She seems to have implanted herself in all of our hearts, as we have contacted them to see about seeing her again. (I feel like I am dating!) Except this is harder! Reference checks, job checks, credit checks(only kidding). Maybe we will be seeing Allie in our future?

As you can see, we decided to cool off inside
Petsmart for a bit, when the "kids"(dad included) got a little crazy with the doggie stuff!

meet Allie - lab mix female- . Allie is great! She is housebroken and crate trained, great with all the other animals and absolutely loves kids. She also knows some basic commands. She is ready to be adopted today.

so in summary, ......................i am just in love with them ALL!

SIDE NOTE: the handsome Cooper, below, was adopted TODAY! I was sad since he was on my HOTLIST, but HAPPY to see him get a GREAT home(I even met the couple-they got there before us!)

PostHeaderIcon WEEKEND! ALMOST AND Show and Tell Friday

I am excited for a few reasons that the weekend is upon us! First, its yard sale time and I am excited to really hopefully get some SPECTACULAR FINDS this weekend! Second, the family is back and ready to go see some DOGS! We have a few Petsmart visits planned with many organizations representing! We are of course, planning to go back to see Cooper(below) again! On a side note, I am so sorry to say that the Golden Retriever rescue still has not called. Its disappointing in so many ways. We truly loved the Goldens and are very disappointed to have not gotten a call back yet. I have emailed them on a few occasions, but nothing from a home evaluator yet. So, the Golden train may pass us by. If ANY of these organizations knew what a SUPERB adoptive family we are, we would be HOUNDED to death. So I am unsure why, we have not had a call back from them yet....never the less, we are VERY excited at this weekends out look!!

i wanted to share a piece I did a few weeks
ago. I got this little table -so cute at a estate sale a few weeks ago....

Just says to me.... Riverside Retreat! Just love this little table!
